The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded a total of 29 projects in September 2023 including resurfacing, bridge construction and rehabilitation, reconstruction, safety, and construction

Macon, GA – According to the state officials, tThe single largest investment, valued at $24.4 million, involves a reconstruction project consisting of 2.5 miles of widening and reconstruction on US 17/State Route (SR) 25, from Harry Driggers Boulevard to SR 99 in Glynn County.

State officials said that this project accounts for 19% of the total awarded funds.

A total of $69 million, or 58% of the overall award, has been allocated to ten resurfacing projects.

The largest resurfacing project, is valued at $18.8 million, consists of 14 miles of milling, inlay, and plant mix resurfacing on SR 85 from SR 1 to North Central Church Road in Harris and Muscogee counties.

The second largest resurfacing project, valued at approximately $15 million, includes 9.3 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on US 27/SR 1 from the Carroll County line to SR 1 BUS in Haralson County.

A total of $27.3 million was awarded for bridge construction projects. The most significant bridge construction project is the construction of a $8.6 million bridge and approaches over Big Dry Creek on US 27/SR 1 in Floyd County.

This project along with six additional bridge construction projects, represents 21% of the allocated funds.

Approximately 3%, or $14.9 million, was awarded for bridge rehabilitation projects at various locations in Brantley, Charlton, Glynn, Clarke, and Walton counties.
