The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred in the 4000 block of Forest Ave West

Macon, GA – According to the statement, Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a person found unresponsive lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, deputies found a white male later identified as 61-year-old Mitchell Edward Wells suffering from what appears to be a single stab wound.

Wells was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Coroner Leon Jones that there is no next of kin.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are still determining what led up to the stabbing. More information will be released once it becomes available.

The victim will be sent to GBI for an autopsy.
