The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded a total of 10 projects in December 2023 including resurfacing, widening and reconstruction, and bridge construction
Macon, GA – According to the state officials, the largest single investment, valued at approximately $62 million, is a reconstruction project covering 3.049 miles of widening and reconstruction for turn lanes and operational improvements on SR 9 from Windward Parkway to the Forsyth County line in Fulton County.
This project represents 53% of the awarded funds.
Approximately $36 million of the total awarded funds is designated for three resurfacing projects.
The largest investment within these projects was for a resurfacing project in Muscogee County.
The project includes 12.7 miles of milling, inlay, plant mix resurfacing on SR 22/SR 540 from west of SR 85 to the Talbot County line and is valued at approximately $13 million.
Three bridge construction projects amounting to nearly $16 million, or 14% of the awarded funds.
The largest among them involves the construction of a 0.360-mile bridge and approaches on US 29/SR 8 over the Hudson River in Franklin and Madison counties.
