3 plead guilty in Atlanta-to-Macon meth trafficking operation
Three people involved in a methamphetamine drug trafficking ring have pleaded guilty to federal criminal drug charges.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia, 39-year-old Jose Ordez Avalos of Ellenwood, 43-year-old Alex Raymond of Warner Robins, and 40-year-old Albruce Green of Macon pleaded guilty on June 25.
The US Attorney’s Office states Raymond distributed meth obtained from Avalos in Atlanta throughout Macon. The Drug Enforcement Administration surveilled the operation in August 2018, and during that month a Butts County deputy stopped Raymond on the road for weaving and following too closely.
The deputy’s K-9 alerted to the vehicle, and the deputy found 1990.8 grams of meth inside of a Michelob Ultra beer box. Avalos had provided Raymond the meth for transport from Atlanta to Macon.
Avalos pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, a $10,000,000 fine, and five years of supervised release.
Raymond pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $1,000,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
Green is charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $1,000,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
Sentencing dates for the three defendants have not been set yet. They will not receive parole during their sentence because there is no parole in the federal system.
